When you get behind the wheel of a new Chevy car, truck, or SUV equipped with HomeLink® technology, you’re unlocking a world of convenience! Built right into your Chevy, HomeLink® allows you to connect your car and your North Charleston home in the following ways:
At the press of a button, you can open and close your garage door or automatic gates
Activate or deactivate your home’s security system, even if you’re already on the road in Mount Pleasant
Control your home’s interior and exterior lights, as well as select in-home electronics and appliances
Still asking yourself, “What is HomeLink®?” Explore the many benefits of this advanced system and get help with programming it, below!
How to Enjoy HomeLink®
Whether you’ve secured the keys to a new Equinox SUV or a Silverado 1500 truck, there are plenty of ways you can take advantage of HomeLink®! Review some of the system’s key benefits, right here:
Seamless Operation: Programming HomeLink® requires no technical knowledge – it’s as simple as pressing a few buttons! We’ll provide specific instructions on the programming process in the next section.
HomeLink® is Not One-Size-Fits-All: No matter what garage door and gate system you have, HomeLink® is more than likely compatible with it! And as we covered up above, there are also several other radio-frequency controlled devices that can connect to HomeLink®.
Control as Many as 3 Devices at a Time: You can program up to 3 of your home’s systems or appliances with HomeLink® at the same time.
Peace of Mind: If you leave your garage door open when you head out to James Island, the system can notify you. And with the ability to control your home’s lights and security system, you can feel total peace of mind when leaving and arriving.
No Batteries to Replace: Your car’s electrical system powers HomeLink® all on its own, meaning there are no batteries that you need to change.
Learn How to Program HomeLink® in Your Chevy
Programming HomeLink® is far more straightforward than you might think! Just follow these simple steps:
There are 3 programmable buttons for the HomeLink® system, typically found directly above the center console on the roof of your Chevy cabin. To start, press and hold the 1st and 3rd buttons until the interior lights start flashing. This may take up to 20 seconds. This action will function as the master reset moving forward, so you won’t need to do this when programming other devices.
When the interior lights start flashing, press and hold the button you want to program. At the same time, hold down the open/close button on your garage door opener. The flashing should switch from slow to rapid, telling you that the programming is complete.
But you’re not done just yet! Without delay, go into your garage and press the “learn” button on the main garage door opener unit.
Return to your Chevy and hold down the newly programmed button for at least 2 seconds. Your garage door opener’s light may flash, which means it is connecting.
